When is a leap year not a leap year?

According to the Gregorian calendar, which is the civil calendar in use today, years evenly divisible by 4 are leap years, with the exception of centurial years that are not evenly divisible by 400. Therefore, the years 1700, 1800, 1900 and 2100 are not leap years, but 1600, 2000, and 2400 are leap years.

How many different types of apples are there?

There are more than 7,000 varieties of apples grown in the world. The apples from one tree can fill 20 boxes every year. Each box weighs an average 42 pounds.

How long will an octopus occupy the same den?

To a human, one giant octopus looks virtually the same as any other of the same size and species. This explains why divers claim to have seen the same octopus occupy a den for ten or more years. But an octopus seldom lives longer than four years.

A three-letter, one-syllable word that becomes a three-syllable word by adding one letter to the end of it: The word "are" has three letters and one syllable -- "area" has three syllables.

How did the president get his cabinet?

The President's Cabinet is not mentioned in the Constitution. But George Washington found that he had to consult regularly with the Secretary of State and other heads of major departments, and the Cabinet developed from this practice of the first president.
